Lawrance Hurst

Lawrance Hurst is the youngest son of our founder and joined the practice in 1968, having previously been an Associate at Andrews Kent & Stone. He became a Partner in 1969 and was Senior Partner from 1992 to 1999.

Since 1999 he has continued to work as a consultant to the practice, thus continuing to make his knowledge and experience available to us and to our clients. His interests include historic building construction, particularly fireproof construction, the early use of concrete and of iron and steel, and also party wall matters.

He was until recently Convenor of the Institution of Structural Engineers History Study Group and serves on the Archives Panel of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has built up an extensive library of material on construction methods and materials, and claims to be familiar with most forms of construction, but is always ready to learn.
